A daughter’s obedience:
The story of a Shunnamite woman tells us of a daughter who was so special to God that he sent word of a coming famine through a prophet, He told her to go to another place to wait out the famine. This place was the land of the Philistines. history tells us that giants lived in that land. She was to stay for seven years until the famine was over.
Her response was to obey.
Nuggets of truth: God is our Jehovah Jireh. Sometimes our provision may be in another place for a season. We have to recognize when we need to move. Our move can be temporary or permanent. Through her obedience to the words of the prophet her needs were met. God rewards obedience. The circumstances around us are not what dictates our future.
There is no inflation that he cannot see us through. He is a God of abundance. There is no lack in him, and he is our source. He supplies not just some of our needs but all our needs. See 2nd Kings 8. She was obedient to the words of the prophet. The bible says, “Obedience is better than sacrifice and to harken than the fat of rams” (1Samuel 15:22)
Action plan: Develop the habit of reading the word daily and pray for Holy Spirit to teach you (start small maybe 5 minutes and build on it week by week).
